Brussels, 6 April 2018

After the election of Uwe Tännler (Switzerland) as Chair of the Board from 15 March 2018 for a period of two years the Board of The European Marketing Confederation (EMC) has elected two new Vice Chairs.

Tännler has succeeded Andrew Harvey (UK) who has stand down in March. At the same time Uwe Tännler and Martin Huisman’s (Netherlands) term of office as Vice Chairs ended.

Huisman has been an EMC Board member since 2013 and has served as Vice Chair of the Board for five years.

Board Members Prof. Jonathan H. Deacon (UK) and Ralf Strauss (Germany) have been appointed by the Board as Vice Chairs for a period of two years. Deacon is professor of Marketing at the University of South Wales and Vice Chair of the Board at the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the UK. Strauss is professor for Digital Marketing & E-Business at Hamburg School of Business Administration (HSBA), President of the German Marketing Association (DMV), Managing Partner of Customer Excellence GmbH, Managing Partner of CMO Academy and Chairman of CMO Community.

EMC is one of Europe’s largest marketing membership organizations, representing marketing, sales and communication associations across Europe.

A not-for-profit organisation based in Brussels, EMC works with its members across Europe, to share best practices in marketing, communication, sales, and service. It is the European network of executives specifically dedicated to  high-level knowledge exchange, thought leadership and personal relationship  building among senior corporate marketing leaders and brand decision-makers across a wide range of global industries. EMC creates programs and studies designed to add to the intellectual capital of the leading marketing thinkers that are members of the individual associations across Europe. Some of the initiatives include primary research, advocacy initiatives around strategic agendas such as GDPR, Marketing Automation or Political Campaigning as well as peer networking events such as the SwissMarketing Forum or the German Marketing Day, regular gatherings amongst the members, discussion groups (such as Competency Circles in Germany) and talent sourcing. Particular focus is on the knowledge development and certification of educational programs such as of CIM in the UK or NIMA in the Netherlands.

In this vein, EMC also offers a unique European marketing qualification and certification framework called EMCQ, which gives marketers access to accredited marketing, sales and communication qualifications recognised across Europe.
